Uncle Ted originally wrote this
story as a Christmas present for his Nephew and Godson,
Andrew. At the time, Andrew loved airplanes and enjoyed
playing with Midas, Uncle Ted's real life Golden Retriever.
So Uncle Ted wrote a story about
Midas and the Little
Red Airplane. After the
story was finished, Uncle Ted thought that a couple
of sheets of typed paper did not seem like a really
fun present, especially since Andrew did not know
how to read at that time. So Uncle Ted decided to
add some pictures to his story.
One year later, after studying many
cartooning books, Uncle Ted created the character
of Midas and the rest of the characters of Golden
Oaks Ranch.
After seeing the first draft that
Uncle Ted created with all the characters, a friend
suggested that Uncle Ted publish the book. With encouragement
from family and friends, Uncle Ted decided to create
a book for all kids to enjoy and decided to involve
a professional illustrator.
Through good luck and fortune, Uncle
Ted met Eddie
Young. Eddie fell in love with the project at
the very first meeting. It is evident in the detailed
illustrations of the book, as Eddie really brought
Midas and the rest of the characters to life.
Now finally, Andrew can get his Christmas
present.
